US prices for single-family homes rose less than expected on an annual basis in May and were down from the previous month, a survey showed Tuesday.

The composite index S & P Case-Shiller CoreLogic 20 metropolitan areas rose 5.2 percent in May on a year to year basis, falling 5.4 percent rise in the months before and short of the estimate for an increase of 5.5 percent from a Reuters poll of economists.
