IMF Remains Confident in China Says Lagarde

Christine Lagarde can be one of the biggest cheerleaders of China right now.
The head of the International Monetary Fund said Thursday that it is not concerned about the volatility in the markets of China, who have undergone wild swings in recent weeks.

"have some degree of volatility is" the markets of mature countries, Lagarde said during a debate at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Lagarde said that if volatility becomes excessive, an intervention by regulators is legitimate and understandable. Investors should be patient during bumpy times, she added.

Lagarde is confident that the Chinese authorities will be able to guide the country during its transformation from a economy based on investment and exports to consumption-led.
