TPP Signing to Take Place in New Zealand on Feb 4

New Zealand said Thursday it will hold a signing ceremony for the Trans-Pacific Partnership pact in Auckland February 4, before the implementation of one of the largest areas of free trade in the world.

"New Zealand has extended invitations to the TPP Ministers to sign the agreement in Auckland," said Todd McClay Trade Minister in a statement.

"Signature mark the end of the TPP negotiation process," said McClay. The United States and 11 other Pacific Rim countries, including New Zealand, have reached broad agreement on the transaction in October.

"After the signing, the 12 countries will be able to begin their respective national ratification process and will have up to two years to complete that before the agreement enters into force," said McClay.

"We hope to move forward as soon as possible after February 3, when all parties are ready to go," US trade Representative Michael Froman, told reporters in Washington on Wednesday, saying the US government TPP could sign an agreement on the date at the earliest after the completion of the relevant internal procedures.

But it remains uncertain how long after the signing of the coverage of transactions for about 40 percent of global gross domestic product will be implemented, because it requires various ratification process, including the passage by Congress the United States.

leaders of the legislature Republican-controlled US said debate on the TPP should take place after the presidential election in November or perhaps the inauguration of the next president in January 2017.

in March 2010, the United States, Australia, Peru, Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand, Chile and Brunei have launched negotiations for a broader Pacific Rim free trade agreement. Malaysia joined the talks in October 2010, followed by Mexico and Canada in 2012 and in Japan in 2013.
